Position Overview
Muslim Hands Canada is seeking a Community Fundraising Manager to lead and grow our community fundraising activities across Canada. This role will build strong relationships with supporters, schools, mosques, community groups, associations and local businesses to raise funds and awareness for our humanitarian work.
The successful candidate will plan fundraising campaigns, events and sponsorship opportunities, support volunteers and community fundraisers, and help turn one-time supporters into long-term partners. The role involves attending community events, meeting donors and working closely with the fundraising and marketing teams.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and carry out a community fundraising plan with clear goals for donations, partnerships and supporter engagement.
· Build and maintain relationships with schools, mosques, faith-based organizations, community groups, associations and local businesses.
· Identify, plan and manage community fundraising events, campaigns and sponsorship opportunities that increase donations and awareness.
· Encourage supporters and volunteers to organize their own fundraising activities, providing guidance and support from planning through completion.
· Create and maintain simple fundraising resources, including event guidance, promotional materials and a community fundraising toolkit.
· Regularly follow up with donors and community partners, share updates on the impact of their support, and thank and recognize their contributions.
· Attend networking meetings, community events and fundraising activities; represent Muslim Hands Canada and deliver presentations or in-person fundraising appeals.
· Work with the marketing team to share supporter stories, event highlights and fundraising achievements.
· Manage event and community fundraising budgets, track income and expenses, and report on results against fundraising targets.
· Maintain accurate donor and partner records in the organization’s CRM system.
· Ensure fundraising activities follow applicable Canadian laws, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidance, privacy requirements and organizational policies.
· Promote respectful, inclusive and safe participation in all events and fundraising activities.
· Travel within Canada as needed to meet community partners and attend events; occasional field travel may also be required.
Required Qualifications
· Experience in community fundraising, donor relations, partnerships or a related nonprofit role, including planning and delivering fundraising activities.
· Experience organizing events, campaigns or sponsorship activities and working toward fundraising goals.
· Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with donors, volunteers, businesses and community organizations.
· Clear written and verbal communication skills, including confidence speaking to groups and making fundraising appeals.
· Good planning, organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage several activities at once.
· Experience using donor databases or customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
· Ability to work independently, take initiative and collaborate with colleagues.
· Understanding of Muslim communities and Islamic charitable giving is an asset.
· Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and community activities.
· Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.
