We are seeking an AWS CloudOps Manager to lead the availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency of our cloud infrastructure. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, driving operational excellence and FinOps practices across multi-cloud environments.
What You'll Own
- Lead and mentor a team of six onshore and offshore cloud/platform engineers, overseeing hiring, performance management, and career development.
- Champion AI-driven observability, automated incident remediation (AIOps), and intelligent platform operations across multi-cloud environments to enable proactive fault resolution and improve operational efficiency.
- Own cloud infrastructure uptime, reliability, and performance, ensuring adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs) and service-level objectives (SLOs).
- Oversee incident management, including on-call rotations, escalation paths, postmortems, and continuous improvement.
- Drive infrastructure automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) adoption using Terraform and CloudFormation to reduce manual toil.
- Lead cloud cost optimization through FinOps practices, including budgeting, forecasting, and rightsizing.
- Partner with Security and Compliance teams on cloud governance, access controls, and audit readiness.
- Own the AWS security posture in partnership with Security, including least-privilege IAM design, GuardDuty, Security Hub, AWS Config rules, and KMS key management.
- Define and monitor operational KPIs, including mean time to recover (MTTR), mean time to detect (MTTD), availability, and AWS spend efficiency.
- Own disaster recovery and business continuity planning across AWS regions.
- Drive CI/CD pipeline modernization and developer experience (DevEx) initiatives to accelerate deployments and reduce friction for engineering teams.
- Oversee cloud database reliability and scaling strategies for PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, DynamoDB, or MongoDB, optimizing maintenance, security, and migration pathways.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related technical discipline, with several years of direct people leadership experience managing cloud/platform teams, leading cross-functional initiatives, and supporting technical growth.
- Practical understanding of, or experience with, AI tools, AIOps platforms, or LLM-assisted operational workflows, including the use of AI in engineering operations (EngOps).
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and IaC tools.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms, including CloudWatch and Site 24x7.
- Experience directly managing cloud infrastructure teams responsible for AWS provisioning, scaling, networking, connectivity, automation, and reliability.
- Deep, hands-on AWS expertise across core services, including EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, EKS/ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch, and Route 53.
- Ability to lead complex cloud initiatives by breaking down technical challenges, setting priorities, removing blockers, and ensuring accountability for outcomes.
- Experience defining and delivering reusable IaC modules, governance guardrails, and platform standards that enable teams to work quickly and securely.
- Experience owning cloud platform roadmaps and prioritization, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes for internal customers.
- Ability to collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, Architecture, Finance, Operations, and vendors to deliver enterprise-scale, cloud-first infrastructure solutions.
- Experience applying FinOps and cloud governance practices to improve cost transparency, consumption discipline, risk management, and accountability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
