Position Details: Industry: Banking/FinanceJob Title: Full Stack developerLocation: Mississauga L5R 0B8Payrate: $70 to $80 Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with strong expertise in Java, Python, backend/full-stack development, and solution architecture. The ideal candidate will work directly with FinTech clients in the Spread Products domain to design, develop, and deploy production-grade applications that address complex trading, risk, and operational challenges. This hybrid engineering and customer-facing role requires hands-on development, cloud-native deployment, CI/CD expertise, and the ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable, secure, and reliable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Work directly with client stakeholders, including trading, risk, and operations teams, to gather requirements and define technical solutions.
Design and develop scalable backend and full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Python, and modern application frameworks.
Build and integrate REST/gRPC APIs and develop enterprise applications using Java and/or Python.
Use Python for rapid prototyping, data processing, analytics, automation, and risk-related calculations where appropriate.
Design, optimize, and manage data models and queries across Database, SQL Server, and MongoDB.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Tekton (Red Hat OpenShift Pipelines) and Jenkins.
Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
Implement cloud-native solutions using one major cloud platform infrastructure-as-code best practices.
Ensure production readiness through monitoring, logging, alerting, performance optimization, rollback strategies, and incident support.
Implement secure coding practices, auditability, and enterprise security controls for financial applications.
Collaborate with engineering teams, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and delivery plans.
Document architecture decisions, communicate technical concepts clearly, and take ownership of the complete delivery lifecycle from discovery through production deployment.
Skills and Qualifications
8+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in full-stack development, backend engineering, or solution architecture.
Strong hands-on expertise in Java (Core Java, Java 17+) and/or Python 3.x, with the ability to work across both technology stacks.
Expert knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, microservices, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
Experience developing Python applications using FastAPI, Flask, or Django, with libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
Strong experience building and consuming REST APIs, gRPC services, and integrating enterprise systems.
Hands-on experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Tekton/OpenShift Pipelines and Jenkins.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and containerized application deployments.
Experience with at least one major cloud platform.
Strong database knowledge across Database, SQL Server, and MongoDB, including schema design and query optimization.
Knowledge of messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka and event-driven architecture.
Understanding of infrastructure as code, DevOps practices, application security, and production support.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frontend frameworks such as React or Angular.
Strong ability to gather requirements, design technical solutions, and deliver production-ready applications in client-facing environments.
